- Visit your health care provider to learn how you can increase the chances of pregnancy. Following are some points which will help you conceive:
- Go for a complete medical check-up, discuss your history, concerns, etc. with your doctor to find out if you are healthy enough to get pregnant.
- Use ovulation tracking applications to find out when you ovulate. Two days before the release of the egg are the most fertile days. Have frequent sex during these days. Apart from these days, sexual intercourse on other days also increases the chances of pregnancy.
- Avoid stress and tension. Keep yourself relaxed. Thinking so much about pregnancy and stressing over it is of no use. Stress can disturb your menstrual cycle and hence ovulation. You can even miss your periods due to tension. Find yourself ways to alleviate stress and to promote a normal menstrual cycle.
- Do not assume that you know the exact date of ovulation. Continue having sex as frequently as you can everyday. However, it occurs midway between your monthly cycle. Almost 14 days before your next periods. But it is not true for every woman.

Pregnancy after 35 have some associated risks and health problems. You should consider following points to lower the risks for these problems and to have a healthy baby:
- First of all, go for pre-natal screening to ensure that you have conceived a healthy child. It will make you know if the baby suffers from a congenital birth defect.
- Plan regular visits to your health care provider for the monitoring of yours and your baby’ health.
- Take vitamins, iron, folic acid and other supplements before and during the pregnancy to ensure the healthy development of your baby with no congenital disorder.
- Poor diet can also be a cause of pregnancy problems. Follow a healthy diet plan with balanced vitamins, minerals, etc. In fact, you should increase your daily calorie intake by 300 calories to meet the needs of developing baby.
- Lessen your activities. Take rest as your body is going through a lot. Do exercise but avoid strenuous activities which can adversely effect your health.
- Do not smoke, drink or use drugs which are banned by FDA. They can harm your developing baby and cause disorders. Alcohol can cause fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).
- Exercise regularly as it increases your muscle movement aiding in natural birth. This lowers the risk for still births. As you grow older, muscle stretch decreases causing problems in natural delivery.
- Gestational diabetes is common in late pregnancies. Control your blood glucose level and do exercise. Sometimes, medicines are also given to lower the risks associated with it.
